Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Joanne grew up in Hong Kong, graduating from GSIS. She moved to the UK to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge where she graduated with Merit in 2015, receiving further awards in Surgery (The Robert Walker Prize) and Veterinary Public Health (The Marks and Spencer Prize in Veterinary Public Health). During her time at Cambridge University, she also completed a Master’s degree in Management Studies at the Cambridge Judge Business School. After graduation, Dr. Joanne completed a project at the World Health Organization in Geneva before moving back to Hong Kong to work in clinical practice for several years. Dr. Joanne joined the East Island Animal Hospital team in 2021.


Dr. Joanne enjoys a wide range of topics within veterinary medicine, in particular internal medicine, ultrasonography, dermatology, preventative health care, and the management of chronic diseases in both cats and dogs. She has completed further postgraduate study in these topics and was awarded the Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2020. 


Dr. Joanne understands the importance of optimizing and tailoring individual health care for each pet and their owners and devotes time and attention to ensure that pet owners understand what is happening so that the best outcomes can be reached for each case.


Outside of work, Dr. Joanne enjoys reading, online shopping, baking, hiking, and spending time with her adopted (ex-HKDR) Hong Kong mixed breed dog, Noble (aka. Bel).
