Dr. Joanna Mockford

Dr Jo is originally from the UK and gained her veterinary degree at Nottingham University with double honours.  Before Hong Kong Jo worked in various UK GP and emergency clinics. Hong Kong wasn't really in the plan but she accidentally got a job whilst on holiday here! Prior to East Island Dr Jo worked as an emergency doctor at VSH, which cemented her passion for the emergency and critical care field (ECC); she is currently studying for her ECC Australian board exams.   

Aside from ECC, Dr Jo has a strong belief that the veterinary field is a global one; and that we have a responsibility to animals beyond our own doorstep. 

She first got involved with a Sri Lankan based veterinary charity (WECare worldwide) in 2016 and has been crazy enough to stay with them ever since! Once COVID allows us to travel she's itching to get back there.  

Outside of work, Jo is a keen runner and loves the challenge of HK hills and humidity. Currently she doesn't have any pets but one day would love an Italian greyhound to call her own!
