Dr Joanna grew up in Hong Kong and traveled to UK for her college and veterinary education. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2008. As a student, Dr Joanna had the honour of presenting her research paper on immunology at the prestigious conference of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association.


Dr Joanna has a strong interest in surgery, both soft tissue and orthopaedic. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery. Dr Joanna attained the Certificate of Advanced Practice and the status of Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. She has completed externships with multiple specialists from America, the UK and Australia. In addition, she is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and has published an article on acupuncture in the Veterinary Times, UK.


Dr Joanna has practiced in HK, the UK and Australia.  Prior to joining the East Island Animal Hospital team she worked in the SPCA (HK) in the position of Senior Surgeon. While working in SPCA, she adopted a Yorkshire Terrier named Bella (pictured with Dr Joanna here).


Dr Joanna joined the East Island Animal Hospital group in 2016 to take up the newly created position of Senior Veterinary Surgeon.


Outside work, Dr Joanna enjoys surfing, hiking, singing and traveling.
